In a good effort to reach out to a broader audience interested in Classical Music, audiences nation wide could experience LIVE what was happening in Lon Angeles at the Disney Hall.
The Los Angeles Philharmonic under famous conductor Gustavo Dudamelâs baton gave an all Mendelssohn program live in HD, broadcast at cinemas nation wide through Fathom Events.
The program began with the Hibride Overture setting the tone to a wonderful concert. Dudamel conducted the LA Philharmonic with sensitivity and lyricism.
Following this beautiful piece the world renowned Mendelssohnâs violin concerto, one of the most beautiful and virtuosic music ever written for the violin repertoire.
The soloist, the outstanding Janine Jansen, performed harmoniously and clearly, especially very musical and always in perfect intonation, her violin seemed to be singing though the notes expressing the various modes of this wonderful master piece with ease, this was a very impressive and excellent performance.
I have to say I noticed how closely Dudamel followed the soloist . Dudamel was careful to let the soloist express herself and did not cover her sound in any moment.
Janine Jansen, practically conducted the orchestra with her violin, both orchestra and soloist played seemingly and in perfect harmony.
Another very interesting approach to educating the audience about the style and history of the music being performed, is the back stage and rehearsal interviews that are linked into the editing of the live concert.
Through one of the interviews prior to the last piece, Maestro Dudamel described how Mendelssohn imagined the Scottish Symphony # 3 in A mayor.Â
Mendelssohn with only 20 years of age, went to visit the castle of Queen Mary of Scotland and was inspired by the cold winds and the majesty of the place as well as the history of this Queen.
As well as the composer, Dudamel inspires his conducting and detailed instructions to the orchestra in âthe storyâ going from one mode to another, Dudamel conducted the Orchestra with superb grandiosity and detail, setting the right tone in every passage of this wonderful symphony.
As I mentioned before these Live broadcastings are a wonderful initiativeâ¦, unfortunately not many young people was present in the movie theater  at the Aventura Mall in Florida, and I believe not many in general knew about this program.
The next LIVE performance will take place in February, LIVE from Caracas Venezuela, the LA philharmonic together with the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra will perform Mahler 8th the Symphony of 1000 chorus, promises to be a great musical event.
