New music venue, The Brick, coming soon to the Warehouse District

AEG Live (which also operates the Target Center) has announced it will be opening The Brick, a new multipurpose entertainment venue, in the coming months. The Brick will be located in the Warehouse District, at 111 5th Street Northâ€"that’s just a few blocks away from the Target Center and Target Fieldâ€"in the former red-brick location of 3 Degrees Ministries, a Christian nightclub that folded, obviously.

The Brick is planning to cater to diverse crowds, with an audience capacity of 2,000â€"a bit above what First Avenue can manageâ€"and hosting multi-genre performances from jazz concerts to comedy shows. A bar called “The Basement @ The Brick” will be on the new venue’s lower level. Based on its name, tweeting from the bar will probably be encouraged, if not required.

In the true spirit of rock ’n’ roll, The Brick is also promising itself as a premier choice for private and corporate events, although it’s basically impossible to deny the appeal of a mosh-pit wedding reception.

The first round of concerts hasn’t been announced yetâ€"look for it in the next few weeksâ€"but in the meantime, you can sign up for the newsletter at The Brick’s website that, for some reason, leaves us wanting a plate full of ribs.
